My approach

I offer supportive counselling and coping strategies to adults and adolescents and to

couples needing counselling regarding their relationship. I provide a safe, nurturing

space where clients can feel heard and understood to be able to express themselves

confidentially. The development of a collaborative, trusting relationship with my

client is very important to me, coupled with the therapeutic value of “talk-therapy”.

My approach includes Psychodynamic Therapy to create understanding of how past

experiences may be influencing present difficulties and Cognitive Behavioural

Therapy (CBT) that assists clients to see how their thoughts influence their feelings

and behaviour and how examining their thinking patterns is a way to bring about

change.

I work with individuals who may be feeling stressed or overwhelmed, feeling they are

not coping. Through exploration of one’s thoughts and feelings, one can gain a sense

of not feeling alone with one’s problems and feel supported. Skills and coping

strategies help bring about a sense of control over one’s emotions and actions and feel

more confident about making positive changes.
